Blue Growth Workshop Session at European Maritime Day

As reported in an earlier News Item, members of SPLASHCOS took part in a workshop session on ‘Maritime Heritage and Blue Growth: What’s the Connection?’

This session took place on 28th May in Athens as part of the European Maritime Day Conference. The session was organised by Nan-Chin Chu, Science Officer of the European Marine Board (EMB), with Geoff Bailey as Chair, and the participation of other members of SPLASHCOS and other organizations. During the Conference the new EU Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Karmenu Vella, visited the EMB stand and received a copy of the recently published SUBLAND report. The attached photograph shows Niall McDonough (left) handing the SUBLAND Report to Commissioner Vella (far right), with Theodoros Dritsas, Alternate Minister from the Greek Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Maritime Affairs and Tourism.
