Details: Conference flyer | Conference Programme and Abstracts | Scientific Report

This was the final conference of the SPLASHCOS Action. It had two purposes: to review the work of the Action over the past four years since its inception in November 2009; and to act as a scientific meeting in the more conventional sense, open to all who are interested in the principal themes of the meeting.

The meeting attracted over 140 participants, 65 oral presentations and 21 posters. Plenary sessions covered the following topics: Sea Level, Climate and Palaeoenvironment; Submerged Landscapes and Archaeology; Submerged Landscapes and Human Dispersal; Underwater Archaeological Sites; Survey Strategies, Techniques and Collaboration with Industry; and Management and Outreach.

Keynote speakers included Kurt Lambeck (Australian National University); Gerold Wefer (University of Bremen); Peter Veth (University of Western Australia); and Hans von Storch (Helmholtz Zentrum Geesthacht).

Parallel sessions were devoted to a final workshop of the CoPaF Project: Coastline Changes of the Southern Baltic Sea - Past and Future Projection, 2009-2013, http://www.copaf.pl. This project is an outgrowth of SPLASHCOS WG2, is coordinated by Jan Harff, Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences, University of Szczecin, financed by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and comprises an international network of Polish, Lithuanian, Estonian and German Universities, research institutions and State authorities.

Three days were given over to conference presentations, a fourth day to a field excursion to the Baltic coast, and the final day to SPLASHCOS meetings, including meetings of the Working Groups, the Management Committee, the Deukalion Planning Group, and the Final Evaluation Panel.
